World Aerobic Gymnastics Champion Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı has returned to the Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBU) Sports Club, where she started her sports career. Onbaşı, who has resumed her training under the roof of MCBU, will compete on behalf of MCBU Sports Club in upcoming competitions.

The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the President of the MCBU Sports Club, Prof. Dr. Murat Taş, and the athletes' coach, Lecturer Gürkan Er from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at MCBU, visited Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar along with Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı and Can Derviş, a 3rd-year student from the Department of Physical Education and Sports and an Aerobic Gymnastics National Team athlete.

During the visit, Prof. Dr. Murat Taş stated, “Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı is not only a source of pride for our club but also for Turkey. She is a great inspiration for our young athletes. I believe that both Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı and Can Derviş will achieve even greater successes together.”

Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı expressed her happiness about returning to her club, saying, “After 10 years, I have rejoined the MCBU family. We participated in the Turkey Championship right after coming back, and we won gold medals in both the women's singles and pairs categories. Our goal is to represent our country in the best way at the European Championship in November, win medals, and have our National Anthem played.”

The athletes' coach, Lecturer Gürkan Er from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at MCBU, expressed his belief that they would achieve significant successes in this period while competing alongside Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı and Can Derviş.

Can Derviş stated that he quickly established great harmony with Ayşe Begüm Onbaşı and expressed his pleasure in working with her.

At the end of the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar congratulated the national athletes, stating, “As Manisa Celal Bayar University, we are always by the side of sports and athletes. The successes of our club make us proud. I wholeheartedly believe that our students will represent our country in the best way with both individual and team successes.”
