Manisa Celal Bayar University, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, and the Chamber of Civil Engineers have successfully collaborated to create a building report card for Manisa and completed risk prioritization studies.
In the Construction and Supervision Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering at Manisa Celal Bayar University, each building in Manisa was examined individually, revealing significant and striking information about their condition. In the analysis conducted for earthquake risks in the central Yunusemre and Şehzadeler districts, it was reported that the risk levels in some neighborhoods ranged from 65% to 80%.
Prof. Dr. Ali Demir, the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Manisa Celal Bayar University, shared insights about the building report card while explaining the color-coded map, saying: "The areas marked in red on the map represent high risk, orange indicates medium risk, and yellow shows low-risk priority areas. We used rapid assessment techniques here. We conducted a joint study with Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, the Chamber of Civil Engineers, and Manisa Celal Bayar University. Within this framework, we examined a total of 13,300 buildings in the central Yunusemre and Şehzadeler districts. We have now completed the risk prioritization studies for these buildings."
