The Turkey-U.S. Cultural Exchange Commission, commonly known as the Turkey Fulbright Educational Commission, supports educational and cultural exchange programs between Turkish and American university graduates, researchers, and scholars. Established by a bilateral agreement signed in 1949 between Turkey and the United States, and funded by contributions from both governments, our Commission aims to strengthen mutual understanding and respect between citizens of Turkey and the United States through cultural exchange.

The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Scholarship is a program available to English teachers at the beginning of their careers, final-year students of English Language Teaching, and final-year students of English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, English Linguistics, English Translation and Interpretation, who are expected to graduate by June 2025 or who have graduated from these fields in previous years. Students and graduates from departments other than English Language Teaching must hold a Pedagogical Formation Certificate or a master’s degree in one of the specified fields.

In addition to these departments, applications are also accepted from candidates with degrees in Turkish Language Teaching, Turkish Language and Literature, Linguistics, or Journalism and Media. Applicants from these fields must provide both a Pedagogical Formation Certificate (or a master’s degree) and have at least two years of teaching experience at the time of application.

The FLTA Scholarship is a nine-month program. Selected individuals will teach Turkish at universities in the United States while also being able to take at least two courses per semester at their host institution.

The application deadline for the FLTA Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year is October 1, 2024.
